Doctor prescribed me for a cataract surgery? Is it painful? Which kind of cataract surgery is the least painful? What are the risks in a cataract eye surgery?
more_vert
Cataract surgery is typically not painful. However, you may experience some mild discomfort during the procedure. The type of anesthesia used during the procedure will depend on your individual case and the type of cataract surgery being performed.

The least painful type of cataract surgery is called phacoemulsification, which uses small ultrasound waves to break up and remove the cataract.

As with any surgery, there are potential risks associated with cataract eye surgery. These include infection, inflammation, bleeding, retina detachment, and a higher risk of glaucoma. It is important to discuss any potential risks with your doctor prior to undergoing the procedure.

Yes, Cataract Surgery is a bit painful. The extremity of pain depends on the amount of cataract to be removed. If more work there on your eyes then more pain there may be. Overall it's a short time process. Normally a cataract surgery lasts 15-30 minutes.

It is painful, yes. My operation lasted about 20 minutes. The doctor prescribed me to wear blue light blocking glasses when I am near TV or laptop and special glasses for reading. Hope it will help you in your issue. Good luck

My mom had her eye's cataract removed several years ago. She never feels any pain at all. The only feeling she had is a mild feeling pressure around the eye, which is a normal thing. After undergoing the surgery, the doctor will prescribe eyedroppers. Then, you can use it.

Cataract surgery is not painful. While patients are awake during surgery, there is little or no discomfort involved. A mild sedative may be administered before the surgery, which calms the nerves, and eye drops are used to numb the eye.

As the eye is such a delicate and sensitive organ, it’s not uncommon to be apprehensive about any eye care procedure. With cataract surgery being such a frequently performed operation in Australia, it’s most likely that you know at least one person who has undergone this eye care procedure.

Cataract surgery is typically not considered to be a painful procedure. The surgery is done under local anesthesia, which numbs the eye, so you will not feel any pain during the surgery. Some people may experience mild discomfort or pressure during the procedure, but this is generally well-tolerated. After the surgery, you may experience some mild discomfort, such as itching, burning, or a feeling of something in your eye, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

It's important to keep in mind that everyone's experience with cataract surgery may be different and some may have more discomfort than others. If you have any concerns or questions about the procedure, it's best to discuss them with your surgeon before the surgery.

Cataract surgery is generally a very safe and relatively painless procedure. The majority of people report that they experience no pain during the surgery, although some may experience minor discomfort. The most common type of cataract surgery is called phacoemulsification, which is a very quick and minimally invasive procedure. This type of surgery is usually the least painful.

The risks associated with cataract eye surgery include the risk of infection, inflammation, bleeding, or retinal detachment. However, these risks are very low, and most people who have cataract surgery experience successful outcomes with minimal complications.

Personally I didn't gone through this surgery but I have seen so many people those who gone through this surgery, there is no need to worry as almost all of them told me that they feel no pain during this surgery, this is very easy and simple. Only thing is as you need to give extra care to your eyes and follow doctor's advice.

As the process of cataract surgery may be painful for some patients. Some patients may find the surgery difficult due to the significant medicating of their eye with anaesthetics and other medications. Others may feel only a slightly painful process. There are many factors that can affect the pain experienced during the cataract surgery, such as the size of the cataract, the patient's size and shape, and the use of any medication.

No, cataract surgery isn't painful! Thanks to the numbing eye drops applied to the surface of the eye before the procedure, you won't feel any pain. These drops will wear off a few hours after cataract surgery. Once this occurs, you may experience some minor discomfort.

Cataract surgery is generally not very painful, and most people experience minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. The surgery is typically performed with local anesthesia, which numbs the eye and the surrounding area, so you shouldn't feel pain during the surgery itself.

Some patients may report feeling mild pressure or a sensation of movement during the procedure, but this is usually not painful. The surgery is relatively quick, typically taking about 15 to 30 minutes.

After the surgery, you might experience some mild discomfort, grittiness, or a foreign body sensation in the eye. You may also have some tearing or watering of the eye. This is normal and usually temporary.

It's essential to follow your surgeon's post-operative instructions, which may include using prescribed eye drops and avoiding activities that could put strain on the eye. If you experience severe pain, sudden vision changes, or any unusual symptoms after cataract surgery, you should contact your ophthalmologist immediately, as these could be signs of complications.

Overall, cataract surgery is considered a safe and routine procedure with minimal pain or discomfort for the vast majority of patients.
