What's your plan with the forum? Some of the times people want different site on the root and different forums on the subdomain or directory. So find out how you want things to be. And based on that decide what may or may not work for you. I have seen most people following this approach end upn with better directory and the SEO organization for the content.

It depends on your preference and the purpose of the forum. Generally, it is best to keep forums in a subfolder instead of the root domain to give your website a more organized structure and make it easier for search engines to index and crawl your content. Additionally, it can help with the navigation of your website, and make it easier for users to find the forum.

It really depends on your personal preference, but typically it is best to keep your forum in a subfolder, such as /forum. This allows you to keep your forum content separate from your main website content, which makes it easier to manage and maintain.

It's recommended to keep a forum in a sub-directory (e.g. domain.com/forum) to keep it organized and avoid conflicts with other pages on the main domain.

Choosing a sub-directory or the domain root for your forum:

1. Domain Root: Easier access if forums are the major focus.

2. Sub-Directory: Keeps website organised and improves SEO.

3. Branding: Root emphasises the forum, while sub-dir maintains coherence.

4. Upkeep: A sub-dir separates the forum from the main website.

5. Traffic: Sub-dir helps content, root increases forum visibility.

6. Think about User Flow: Make a decision based on user experience.
