The colours of the rainbow are: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Rainbows are formed when sunlight is scattered from raindrops into the eyes of an observer. Most raindrops are spherical rather than the often depicted 'teardrop' shape and it is this spherical shape that provides the conditions for a rainbow to be seen.

The seven colors of a rainbow are arranged in the order of the spectrum of visible light, and each color has its own wavelength. Rainbows can appear in the form of a full circle, a semi-circle, or as an arc. They are most often seen after a rainstorm, when the sun is shining and the sky is clear.

Rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. A typical rainbow is made up of seven colors, which are:

Red

Orange

Yellow

Green

Blue

Indigo

Violet

These colors are often remembered by the acronym ROYGBIV. The colors of the rainbow appear in a specific order because each color has a different wavelength and is bent at a slightly different angle as it passes through the water droplets. This causes the colors to separate and form a spectrum of light.

A rainbow typically consists of seven colors. These colors, in order, are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. This sequence of colors is commonly remembered using the acronym "ROYGBIV." However, it's important to note that a rainbow is a continuous spectrum of colors, and the division into seven distinct colors is a human perception. In reality, a rainbow is a beautiful display of the entire spectrum of visible light.

There is an infinite number of colors in a rainbow but we only see the seven colors (ROYGBIV). It comes down to the way our eyes function. Even though a rainbow has a lot of colors, the cells in our eyes only respond to three: Red, Green, and Blue.
