Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese adventurer, was the first to sail around the globe. In 1519, he embarked on his expedition in five ships with a crew of roughly 270 men. Although Magellan himself could not finish the tour because he was slain in a fight in the Philippines, one of his ships, the Victoria, carried on and finished the first circuit of the world by returning to Spain in 1522.

The first person to sail around the world was Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer. He set out from Spain in 1519 with a fleet of five ships and reached the Pacific Ocean a year later. Magellan and his crew faced many challenges, including harsh weather, illness, and mutiny. However, they continued their journey and became the first people to circumnavigate the globe when they returned to Spain in 1522 (although Magellan himself died along the way). Magellan's historic achievement proved that the world was round and opened up new trade routes and cultural exchange between the East and West.
