The biggest animal in the world is the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus), which is also the largest mammal on Earth. Adult blue whales can grow up to 100 feet long (around 30 meters) and weigh more than 200 tons. They feed on krill, a tiny shrimp-like crustacean, and can consume up to 4 tons of krill per day. Despite being enormous in size, these gentle giants are filter feeders and do not pose any threat to humans.

The blue whale holds the title for being the largest animal in the world. It is also the largest known animal to have ever existed. Blue whales can reach lengths of up to 98 feet (30 meters) and weigh around 200 tons (approximately 181 metric tonnes). These magnificent marine mammals inhabit oceans around the globe and primarily feed on tiny shrimp-like creatures called krill. Despite their massive size, blue whales are filter feeders, meaning they consume large amounts of water and filter out their prey through baleen plates in their mouths.
