Meat, such as pork, beef, lamb or chicken, along with a few vegetables (not always) is placed inside a baking dish lined with short crust pastry. Once the filling is in the base of the pastry then a layer of pastry is placed on the top and the edges crimped together forming a seal and allowing the pies contents of meat to cook while inside an oven. This is a British style pie.
