Biometric simply mean life measurement. Because bio means life while metric is measurement. So the bio deal with the use of human features or using life features in measurement to control a security system tagged security access control. So the aspect or part of human or life characteristics uused are fingers, full palm surface, feat surface, human walking, voice and retina.
All this mentioned or listed human parts actually determine the characteristics required and by extension the type of access control each of the system, human characteristics is been collected into the system through the module called biometric module and stored as access point requirement in the firmwares.

So, in my own understanding, we have finger print access control, palm access control,  retina biometric  access control, voice access control, etc

Biometric access control is a type of security system that utilizes biological characteristics such as fingerprint, face, or iris recognition to identify and authenticate individuals. This technology is widely used due to its ability to provide reliable and secure authentication. There are three main types of biometric access control: Fingerprint Recognition: This is the most common type of biometric access control system. It uses an individual's unique fingerprint as an authentication method to grant access to a secure area. Facial Recognition: Facial recognition technology is used to identify an individual based on his/her face. It captures facial features such as eye color, bone structure, and skin tone to authenticate a person. Iris Recognition: Iris recognition is a relatively newer technology that uses an individual's iris patterns to authenticate entry. By comparing the unique patterns of a person's iris to a database, it is able to accurately identify the individual.

Biometric access control is a security system that uses physical characteristics such as fingerprints, facial recognition, and retinal scans to identify and grant access to a user. Its purpose is to provide a secure and reliable way of verifying the identity of an individual. There are several types of biometric access control systems, including fingerprint scanners, facial recognition, voice recognition, iris and retinal scans, and hand geometry.

A biometric access control is a security system that uses biometric data to validate access to a system. The type of biometric access control depends on the purpose of the data and how it is used.

picture based access control: This type of access control uses a picture of the user to validate access.

password-based access control: This type of access control uses a password to validate access.

eyewitness-based access control: This type of access control uses the ability to see the user's body to validate access.
