The main cause of the American Civil War was the issue of slavery and states' rights. The outcomes of the war were the abolition of slavery, the reunification of the United States, and the increase in federal power over states' rights. The war resulted in unprecedented loss of life and destruction, and left a lasting impact on American society and politics.
