Saul Bass, an American graphic designer and Academy Award-winning filmmaker, was born on May 8, 1920 in New York City.
Bass is best known for his iconic title sequences for films such as Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder, and North by Northwest. He also designed film posters, corporate logos, and advertisements. In addition to his work in film, Bass worked on many other projects, including the AT&T logo, and the United Airlines logo. He was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1974 for his lifetime of work.
