Massimo Vignelli was an Italian graphic designer who is widely known for his work in corporate identity, publication design, package design, and environmental design. He is also credited with the development of the modern-day subway map for the New York City Subway system. He was awarded the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2003 and was inducted into the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame in 1987.
