Real vampire bats live in Central and South America, particularly in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. They usually roost in caves, abandoned buildings, hollow trees, and other dark, secluded places during the day, and emerge at night to hunt for blood from other animals. Vampire bats are the only mammalian species that feed exclusively on blood, and they have special teeth and saliva that allows them to do so without harming their prey.
