There are different sizes for swimming pools so a swimming mile would constitute different number of laps.

The Olympic pool has the following dimensions: Length: 164 feet (50 meters) ; Width: 82 feet (25 meters)

Taking into consideration the 50 meters length of the Olympic size pool, a swimming mile is equal to 30 lengths or 15 laps.

Hope this helps! =)

16.1 laps around a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool is what a real mile is equivalent to. If you are swimming in a 25-meter short course pool, one metric mile is 32.2 laps.

An Olympic-sized swimming pool is typically 50 meters in length. To convert meters to miles, divide the number of meters by 1609.34. One mile is approximately equal to 1609.34 meters. Therefore, in an Olympic-sized pool, you would need to swim approximately 33.33 laps to swim one mile.
