There are different sizes for swimming pools so a swimming mile would constitute different number of laps.

The Olympic pool has the following dimensions: Length: 164 feet (50 meters) ; Width: 82 feet (25 meters)

Taking into consideration the 50 meters length of the Olympic size pool, a swimming mile is equal to 30 lengths or 15 laps.

Hope this helps! =)
