There is not a lot that can be done to prevent this powdery stuff from appearing on the leaves of gourds, but there are a few things that can be done to help preserve the vines and minimize the amount of this powdery stuff that appears. One thing that can be done is to keep the gourd plants well watered and well fertilized, as this will help to promote healthy growth and prevent the vines from becoming dry and brittle. Another thing that can be done is to keep the gourd plants away from windy areas, as this will help to reduce the amount of airborne dust and pollen that can be spread around the plants. Finally, it is also important to be mindful of how the gourd plants are being treated when they are being harvested, as this can also have an impact on the amount of powdery stuff that appears on the leaves.

To prevent the powder on your plants use a solution mix house plant water spray bottle.

Use the spray bottle everyday when you see no more residue.

Remember to spray lightly, as you do not want to fracture your plants.

If all this doesn't work, then report your plant in a different soil.

The ashen powdery stuff on gourd leaves is most likely a fungal disease known as powdery mildew. Here are some ways to protect your gourds from this problem:

Choose Resistant Varieties: Choose gourd varieties that are resistant to powdery mildew. Consult with a gardening expert or seed vendor to find resistant varieties in your region.

Proper Plant Spacing: Proper spacing between plants can help improve air circulation around the plants, which reduces humidity and the likelihood of powdery mildew.

Monitor Watering: Overwatering or underwatering can contribute to powdery mildew, so monitor soil moisture levels and water your gourds appropriately. Water your plants early in the morning so the leaves have time to dry before the evening.

Remove Infected Leaves: If you spot any leaves with powdery mildew, remove them immediately and dispose of them in the trash. This can prevent the spread of the disease to other leaves.

Fungicides: If the above steps are not sufficient, you can also consider applying a fungicide. Consult with a gardening expert or a local nursery to find an appropriate fungicide for your gourds and follow the instructions carefully.

Remember, prevention is always better than cure. Therefore, regular monitoring and proper maintenance of your gourd plants can help prevent powdery mildew from occurring in the first place.

There are a couple ways to protect gourds from getting ashen powdery stuff on the leaves. One way is to protect the gourds with a layer of Leave-O-Bag before cover with a layer of clean cloth or paper. Another way is to use a protected form of transportation such as driving in car then coming home on the same car.
