The tiger is also affected. The use of their body parts for medicine is thought to be the greatest threat to this tigers.Fewer than 4000 species are left in the wild.

The whooping crane is another endangered specie. In 1938,a population survey was carried out and only 29 whooping cranes  remained in the wild.3 years later,16 were remaining.Today, their are over 400/breeds ,thanks to the innovative breeding program

The tiger is also affected. The use of their body parts for medicine is thought to be the greatest threat to this tigers.Fewer than 4000 species are left in the wild.

The population of blue whales is less than 25,000 .The current population has been reduced by 90%

The population of the Asian elephants is not really known but the best guess of the IUCN on the current population is between 40,000 and 50,000.The Asian elephant is been poached for its ivory, meat and skin.

By reading this I have managed to add up on my knowledge about this topic this is very useful information about the topic.I didn't know that panda's are endangered species.

Yes, most of the large mammals are usually endangered since most of these mammals give birth to one or just a few offsprings and they are mostly hunted by people or other kinds of predators. Whales are one of the largest mammals living in the world and they are getting fewer because of the sonar used by people which leads them to go offshore and gain huge injuries or die. Whales aren't the only ones being affected by sonar waves, other marine organisms get injured or die as well offshore.

That is quite a positive mindset and perspective it will keep you optimistic no matter the situation,I didn't know sonar waves cause this.

Wow, I like your answer to this question. I wanted a paraphrased answer and you met the eligibility criteria for that.

Sumatran tiger, orang utan, polar bear, African elephant, java rhinoceros are some large animals that are close to their extinction. As they're endemic species, it's true that they're vurnerable creature to extinct from each spesific region.Sumatran tiger and orang utan are hunted/trapped and their habitar is being decreased by housing and sawit palm tree farm. Polar bear threatened by global warming that decrease their land and foods. Java rhinocerus is low reproductive and there is mount krakatoa close to their habitat which could swipe them away by tsunami if the mount erupted.

This is quite a reasonable and knowledgeable answer and I think you are quite right considering the angle you are seeing the question from. I literally didn't know the sumatran tiger is an endangered mammal.
more_vert
Yes they are endangered because of their poaching to get various products such as skin and other body organs for making of medicines. This makes their population to decrease and also fear for their extinction.

Elephants is one of the examples of it I guess. Even the little ones are hunted

Let's hope that none of the mammals will ever go extinct the least we can do is believe in God and try and protect them.

I guess elephants are decreasing their numbers and nearly extincted. Sad to say but others hunt them and make their skin as products. I saw an article about it and it is very sorrowful to read.

large mammals are the endangered cause of loss of habitat and loss of genetic variations. Blue whales are listed as endangered species as of 2022, because of contaminants, habitat degradation, disturbance, and climate or ecosystem change. They are at risk of total extinction if drastic measures are not taken. And this species was protected from commercial whaling by the International Convention for Regulation of Whaling.

some of the large mammals are becoming endangered. Some of this large mammals take a very long period of time to reproduce or to give rise to their young ones of similar kind. Low control of diseases, forest fires, poaching are just some of the reasons why these mammals are becoming endagered.

Although the African elephant is generally regarded as vulnerable, some subspecies, including the forest elephant, are rated as severely endangered. Similar to the Amur Leopard, which is critically endangered in Russia but has a small population that is considered endangered in China. Each species' conservation status should be evaluated individually, taking into account regional variations in its population, threats, and conservation activities.

There is no global list of all large mammals, or even a specific region or country that is listed. However, many animals in different regions may be listed as being endangered, as is typically the case with species that are in danger of being lost from the wild. Because large mammals are so important to the global environment, it is likely that many of these animals are being losinged to little notice or effort on the part of humans.

There are many large mammals that are considered endangered, meaning they are at risk of becoming extinct in the wild. Here are some examples of large mammals that are currently considered endangered:

African Elephant

Sumatran Elephant

Javan Rhino

Black Rhino

Amur Leopard

Siberian Tiger

Giant Panda

Bornean Orangutan

Mountain Gorilla

Cross River Gorilla

It's important to note that the status of these endangered species may vary by region. For example, the African elephant is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), but there are some populations of African elephants that are more stable than others. Similarly, the Siberian tiger is endangered globally, but its population in Russia is considered to be more stable than in other parts of its range.

It's also worth noting that there may be other large mammals that are considered endangered or vulnerable in certain regions, but not globally. For example, the North American gray wolf is considered endangered in some parts of its range, but its overall population is not as threatened as some other species.

Overall, it's important to assess the status of endangered species on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the threats they face in their specific regions and the efforts being made to conserve them

Large mammals face real threats due to habitat loss, poaching, climate change, and human-wildlife conflict. Tigers, elephants, rhinos, gorillas, orangutans, and polar bears are among the endangered species.
