Hi I am wondering whether if there is asbestos in old Singer sewing machines Model 291U3. Is there any in the motor? Is there any in the electrical insulation? e.g wiring, washers?

Also please don't tell me to contact Singer (they don't know as well)or to have someone look at it, I prefer to only do that as a last resort

Thanks in advance

Model 291U3 . As far as I know there's nothing in the mechanical or main body of the machine , but in a some cases there have been found small bits of asbestos insulation in the pedals. The ones I have seen have been a bit odd squares of a dry stiff felt like material.

No asbestos found in old Singer sewing machines, however, there is asbestos in the motor and electrical insulation. The motor and electrical insulation are potential sources of asbestos. However, they are not the most important source of asbestos. The most important source of asbestos is the motor, as it is the source of your machine's manufacturing and assemblies. This is the source of your machine's efficiency and the source of your machine'sPA R O W N
