There has been various theories behind how the giraffes got such huge height and what made it such tall?

One which I know and have read is the Darwins theory which says that the survival of the fittest and the change is a must. As the food on the ground and normal height began to vanish the giraffes find it difficult then to have food from the trees and plants. So they started to eat from the tall trees and hence they had to jump and stretched there necks and hence after generations after generations there neck got long and giraffes became the tallest animals.
