I'm thinking about going to Fukushima City in Japan for a short language teaching internship. But I'm a bit concerned due to the nuclear mess that happened in 2011 after the tsunami.

The official information given by the Fukushima Prefecture is that yes, it is safe. However, if you really want or need to go there, I would try to find some independent and trustworthy scientifical research to validate what they say.

Yes it is safe, most people are still hesitant about visiting Fukushima as they think it is still unsafe and they may be exposed to high level of radiation
