Unfortunately, yes. It started as an interesting and original idea, now it's totally a cash grab. They release tons of DLC for Sims 4 and pretty much all of them cost more and have less content than Sims 3 DLC. I think it will only get worse.

The Sims is still a very popular franchise. There is an entire community dedicated to playing the Sims. Also, there are several expansion and stuff packs released yearly for the current version, Sims 4.

There is no definitive answer to this question as opinions vary greatly. Some people may feel that Sims still provide a great experience after all the changes made to them since the game was first released, while others may feel that they are only popular because of the popularity of the Simulant class. Many people will never find a use for a Simulant, and many people feel that they are unnecessary and a hindrance to the experience. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide whether they feel that Sims are necessary or not.
