Is it unhealthy to work during the middle of the night?

I have heard that people are more prone to illness if they work nights, usually certain cancers, metabolic disorders, heart disease, ulcers and stomach complaints. My sister has worked in a supermarket on nights for 13 years and she has had breast cancer in the last few years. I think there might have been other factors which contributed to this because she smoked and drank alcohol regularly at the time time. There is some evidence to suggest that working nights over a prolonged time can shorten your life but there could be other factors involved too.

It is unhealthy especially if you hadn't had enough sleep. It is recommended that the body should have 7  to 9 hours of sleep daily. In my own case  if I plan to work at night, I go to bed early, that will enable wake up midnight to work, but I don't make it a habit so I won't interfer with my sleep time. I try as much as possible to complete my work before sleep time and shift the rest the following day.

Working during middle of the night disturbs the normal routine of a person. The body funds it difficult to adjust as per the new routine. Also, working during middle of night will disturb the sleep which will result in tiredness and stiffness in the body.

No.It is not unhealthy to work in the middle of the night.You will get the peaceful Time,if you work in the middle of the night.

It depends on the individual's individual circumstances. Some people might find it healthy to work at night because they are tired during the day and need to do work that they otherwise would not be able to do.
