How to recognize false memories? How to know if something really happened or not, when someone says I am remembering things that didn't happen?

People's memories are not always accurate. When I talk to my sister about something that happened in our childhood we come up with a completely different memory even though we were both there at the time. She is convinced that she is right and I always think I am. This is why eye witness accounts of an incident cannot always be relied on by the police. It doesn't mean we are lying, it's just that our memory of something that happened is not always correct.

I think the best answer will be to go into research, dig out the truth to confirm if actually what he said is true or false. Though many people have psychic abilities that reveal past events, and have been helpful in solving several criminal cases, but the first step by the investigating body e.g police is to subject all outcome to investigation and develop an evidence from there. In this modern age of ICT, the internet holds a lot more helpful information that could assist any investigation.

In the first place how can you have false memories. I think it would be your liking to creating false memories. You need to have solid and real memories not fantasies as I may call them.

Didn't believe anyone, better leave it there. Some places or some instance will bring back lost memory. Didn't give any importance to such unwanted things. It will not add up anything new or good to our knowledge.

False memories are created when person remembers something that didn't happen, or when something strange happens to the person and they say that they remember something that didn't happen. They might also say that they remember when they didn't even know they existed or that they just remembered being remembers something.

False memories can be helpful if you think someone might be lying about what happened. They can also be a danger if someone thinks they are having a memory of something that didn't happen. If someone says they remember something that didn't happen, it might be helpful to check to see if they are telling the truth.

False memories can be determined by looking at how often the person experiences the memory. It can also be determined by asking people to describe the feeling of being remembering something they didn't see or hear. It can also be determined by taking the person's name and date of memory and counting down until the memory happened.

there's really one way to tell if a memory is real, and that's to compare your memory to independent evidence of the event. However, that may not be possible in a lot of cases and without that independent evidence, people generally only identify false memories correctly about 50% of the time.
