Is it true that sleeping for more than 9 hours increases stroke risk?

Hi there,

My name is Nesim and I am gonna try and explain as well as describe what does it mean to over-sleep.

Before we get into it you must know that all of the religions even though there is only 1 real one are teaching us not to over-sleep. Now, your body basically gets a shut down. Your organs aren't working (most don't).

And your body prefers a 6-8 hours sleep. For me it's a 6 hours sleep. Because if I sleep more then 8 hours I fell tired and can't get through my day easily. Same if I am not sleeping at least  hours, then I am sick I feel very very tired and I could even throw up.

So I think yes, your heart rate goes below minimum when your asleep and so perhaps over-sleeping can possibly bring more chance for a stroke.

Maybe that not a scientifically proven one, but I think you should be over-doing anything in life which is same for the sleep.

Best way is usually 6 hours and If you feel very tired then 7. Not even 8 hours is good (for me at least).

Hope this helps you out.

Best Regards,

Nesim

Studies show that person who sleep more than 9 or more per night had a increased risk of stroke compared to those who slept from 7 hours to less than 8 hours.

Yes because brain cells may affect it because it stimulates less than the needed time

The recommended hours of sleep for a healthy adults is between 7 to 9 hours daily. Sleep allows us to function properly but just as the body needs sleep, it also needs work and movement. So we make out time for work and movement outside our time of sleep.

Yes it is true we need to balance the way we operate with our bodies, rest and work should be proportionate.

I don't think so. Brain attack or stroke happens if a person is having secondary complications or health-related risk factors. Lifestyle can also be a causative factor, such as smoking, sedentary lifestyle, and so on. It is not because a person slept for more than 9 hours.

I can imagine for children who spend most of their young life sleeping for hours. They could have developed it. So it's not possible to contract stroke with much sleep.

Yes lifestyle can make a big factor in stroke, however stressed minds can cause it too. Have enough for your mind

Well... I suppose so. Though we need to sleep so that our body can recuperate, sleeping longer means, we are staying too long in a position that restricts blood flow. Thus it adds pressure to our arteries that might lead to a stroke.

Note, this is just my assumption and not based on any studies.

I guess so. Because stroke is caused by brain when it has more time at rest rather than it was on process. That's why old people exercise their body and mind to prevent stroke. I didn't say sleeping is not healthy but try some activities while we're awake and not only at one place

According to researchers from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China, regularly taking naps that exceed 90 minutes, or sleeping for over 9 hours each night, may raise one’s chances of suffering a stroke.

If you sleep more than 9 hours it might be a sign of an underlying problem. This can cause hypersomnia which includes depression, anxiety, low energy, and memory problems it could also higher risk of stroke than those sleeping less than 8 hours.

Yes, sleeping for more than nine hours has been linked to an increased risk of stroke. A 2017 study found that individuals who slept for more than nine hours per night had a 2.5-fold increased risk of stroke compared to those who slept for seven hours.

While some studies have suggested that sleeping for more than 9 hours per night may be associated with an increased risk of stroke, other factors such as underlying health conditions and lifestyle habits may also play a role. It is important to maintain a healthy sleep pattern that is appropriate for your individual needs.

The research on the matter is inconclusive. Some people who experience more than 9 hours of sleep a day believe that their risk for developing stroke increases significantly. Others may believe that the increase is not significant or that it is not specific to adults. The takeaway from the research is that there is no definitive answer to this question.

Sleep privation increases chance of high blood pressure which is considered to be the leading risk factor for stroke. Insuffient sleep can lead blockage of blood vessels.

No, it is not true that sleeping for more than 9 hours increases stroke risk. The relationship between sleep duration and stroke risk is complex and can vary depending on individual factors. While some studies have suggested a potential link between long sleep duration and increased stroke risk, more research is needed to fully understand the association. It's important to maintain a healthy sleep routine and consult with a healthcare professional if you have concerns about your sleep habits or stroke risk.
