Change depends on usage, and specification, usage makes way for tear and wear and with time the parts becomes dysfunctional, most manufacturers clearly states that after certain amount of gas has been regulated change is due. It is more of usage than time that determines change.

As required by the application, gas regulators are used for all compressed gases and gases liquefied under pressure. The regulator, gas hoses, and clips must be periodically inspected. Any damaged component detected should be put out of use and replaced immediately. Gas regulators should be replaced every five years.

The replacement interval for an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) regulator can vary depending on factors such as the manufacturer's recommendations, usage patterns, and local regulations. However, a general guideline is to have the LPG regulator inspected and replaced every 10 to 15 years to ensure its safety and proper functioning. It is advisable to consult the manufacturer or a qualified professional for specific recommendations.
