I’ve listened to at least two experts cite studies back in February stating explicitly the coronavirus was airborne. One was Michael Osterholm cited in this article. For him, the transmission could occur with just normal talking.
In the mind of scientists working on this, there’s absolutely no doubt that the virus spreads in the air. If the particle drop size is less than 5 microns, it’s airborne, if it’s 5 microns or larger it’s not airborne.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the COVID-19 droplets are too heavy to hang in the air and that they quickly fall on the floor and other surfaces. This means that the virus is not airborne per se. The virus is being transmitted through the emission of droplets by an infected person through coughing, sneezing or speaking. You can only get the virus if you inhaled these droplets or if you touched an infected surface and then you touched your eyes, nose and mouth without washing or disinfecting your hands.
According to the current evidence, COVID-19 Virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets and contact routes. Airborne transmission is not reported.
Many reports have indicated that the virus is airborne and can also fall on surfaces and cause transmission also. Hence we need to be careful and follow the health measures.
Coronavirus spreads through airborne droplets. An infected person exhales tiny specks and droplets of respiratory fluids containing the SARS CoV-2 virus.
The coronavirus is a kind of virus that can cause severe respiratory illness, which can be fatal. It is typically spread through contact with respiratory secretions, such as saliva or mucus, from an infected person. The virus can also be spread through close contact with an infected animal or person.
