1.keep your grill at least 10 feet away from your house.

2.check for gas leaks.

3.clean your grill regularly.

4.turn on the gas when the grill lid is closed.

Avoid gas leaks, it is the most dangerous thing if you carelessly grill with that instance. Also don't be too near your house to prevent flow of the flame. Do it on a wider part of your yard or lawn and put some sort of mittens to avoid burns in your hand

Depending on the grill it should have a space away from other things. If you refer to grilling on a traditional or fire, you may do it outside of your home to avoid anything inside to burn. If you are grilling on a electric griller might as well avoid any liquid in the chord to avoid short circuit.
