The Torah, which is the central text of Judaism, consists of the following five books:
Genesis (Bereishit) - This book tells the story of creation, the lives of the patriarchs and matriarchs, and the descent of the Israelites into Egypt.
Exodus (Shemot) - This book tells the story of the Israelites' enslavement in Egypt, their liberation through the leadership of Moses, and their journey to Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments.
Leviticus (Vayikra) - This book contains a detailed description of the laws of sacrifice, the priesthood, and the various religious observances.
Numbers (Bamidbar) - This book describes the journey of the Israelites through the wilderness, the numbering of the tribes, and the various challenges they faced.
Deuteronomy (Devarim) - This book contains a series of speeches by Moses to the Israelites, in which he recounts their history and reiterates the laws that God has given them.
