My little sister is suffering from swollen uvula. We started noticing  it yesterday and we need quick treatment before it gets worse. Any experiences?

There are a few things that you can do to treat the swollen uvula. First, try to apply an old clean cloth caddy to the uvula and then try to apply pressure to the area. This will help to reduce the amount of blood that is able to get inside the uvula. If the uvula is getting larger, then try to apply an antibiotic ointment to the uvula. This will help to reduce the amount of inflammation. Lastly, try to seek medical attention if the uvula is getting worse and it is not just just just reducing inflammation.

I am so sorry to hear that. A lot of people suffer from swollen uvula but this is easily treated and it often goes away. Sometime back, my brother suffered the same but it was managed easily.


There are certain factors that causes this which includes, allergies, certain medications, dehydration, trauma, genetics and infection-the most underlying being "strep throat". Strep throat is caused by an infection with Streptococcus pyogenes baceria.


To begin treat, you need to isolate all these factors to determine which could be the cause. there are natural home remedies that you can use.


1. Use salt and warm water solution to gargle in your mouth.

2. Take two tea spoons of honey three times a day and always try to let it touch the uvula.

3. Take a spoon of tumeric in one cup of room temperature water.

4. Drink a lot of water everyday.


There are other remedies that you can use but these are what we used.


NOTE; You need to see a doctor if symptoms persist.

In short she's suffering from uvulitis.Some of the solutions:

First,water is the best cure because swelling uvula might be caused by dry mouth or dehydration.

Also she should take plenty of mixture of warm water +salt to soothe the throat.

Taking very hot tea and honey to soothe the sore throat

Chewing of the ice chips and finally she should take rest.
