On another forum I am on one of the moderators gets annoyed if we answer questions that have been around for a long time. He thinks we should ask new questions to bring fresh content to the forum and has taken to deleting some of the old. What do you think?

I had experienced this on one of the discussion sites. The only difference is that the moderator deleted the new discussion that earned so many comments. Is that fair? I find it unreasonable. I attempted to ask why it was deleted. They just ignore me. One of the users told me that once the question was being answered, the moderator will delete it. Where is the essence of having a site that the platform is for discussing something? I sometimes cannot understand why moderators do this. Is it because they have the power to do it?

Yes this is a newly appointed moderator and he deleted the Answeree thread. Answeree is still an active site so I couldn't understand it and in fact it actually prompted me to come and post here after some time. It annoyed me because all the information gathered is now gone and some people might want to use it as a reference. Why didn't he just lock it if he didn't want people to post on it any more.

I am still a newbie here and haven't experienced it. If it is really being practiced here, then it is not a good course of action. I am with you that some of these questions are really essential to some readers. It can be used for future reference.

I guess that moderator has a reasonable explanation why Answeree members prioritize recent questions to answer. Unfortunately, there are no point earnings for posting questions as fresh content.

It still count as 10 points whether new or old post. At least we use this site as a Q and A to others who seek for answers in their questions. :)

It depends on the question, if we don't have idea on the newer questions then why not settle for the older ones? As long as the question made a precise answer then it should be talked about. Like for example the old ones are the expertise of the one who will answer then go comment about the past post.

It is our choice whether to answer new question or old one. But people sometimes need to have to follow certain rules insist by the site owner. Maybe the moderator is a new person.

Preferably it's nice to answer new questions however if there are available old questions you can still answer those to continuously participate in Answeree to earn. This will depend on you if you think you can answer those old questions that you think you can relate to answering. That’s why Answeree is suggesting its members give new questions that you think you can contribute for members to answer.

You are really allowed to answer about the old and new questions as long as you know the correct answer to it and there is no rules against answering old questions.
