Have you noticed that some films are not identical to the book story? For instance, some characters are missing and the plot has been changed. It seems that we really need to read paperback books before judging a film if it is good or not.

A book is usually has so much detail that they couldn't possibly put it all in a film. I read the Amityville Horror before I watched the film and found the film a little disappointing even though I thought they had picked out the best parts. I don't know why they change the plot or the characters in some cases. I suppose it's to make the film seem more appealing to the viewers.

I also think that directors need to remove some characters and change the main in the book. For the reason that they need to capture the moviegoers' interest. It is also the same thing with the Harry Potter series. There are some cuts.

I was hoping they would do that. But Ive read a couple of books and watched the film adaptation and the story changed.

Just like Dear John. I love that book and when the movie came,I was a bit disappointed that the story changed. The book is better than the film so Id rather read books now than watch film adaptations

When I also read 'The Diary of a Young Girl' by Anne Frank. I did not see the other interesting parts when watching the film. I assumed that it will be a long film if the director will put them all.

I agree with you. It is just better and easier to read a book than watch the movie adaptation and be disappointed.

Film adaptations are nothing compared to the wonderful world of villains and protagonists in books! The imagination of the mind, seeing the imagery myself in is far marvelous to behold in books.

I agree. The excitement is always there when reading books. The imagination is so active that can make a reader more satisfied than watching the film. Moreover, we can able to pinpoint the difference.

This question has been a topic of discussion among cinema lovers and Bibliophiles.

Being a book lover, I too never get satisfied with the plot of movie compared to books but there are movies which terminates this saying by being even better, I believe "the wolf of Wall Street" is one of them.

The movie should have some thrill and if shouldn't be the complete adaption so that viewers can be surprise.

That's the role of the movie directors. They tend to remove some characters from the book itself. The main aim is to capture the target moviegoers.

I do think that when movies are going to adapt a book that it should be accurate to the plot. It is disheartening to see movies that just take the story of a book and change it. I do understand if the book is especially long and it needs shortening to fit the average 2 hour time screening for a movie. However, I still think the movie industry should try to do a book justice and not give excuses in later interviews about why they changed the story.

I guess we need to understand when it comes to film adaptation. I do agree that they need to remove some characters that can be more appealing to moviegoers.

In my opinion, if it is not necessary in the story, then it is fine to omit some characters. Although we still need to read te books first before watching the adapted films to know the differences.

Hmm, a book has really too much actually. Reading Harry Potter after watching Harry Potter left me stunned. But I also understand that they couldn't possibly fit the whole book into screening.

Soo, the fan favorites must not be removed at least and the important characters mustn't be changed.

No, the film adaptation is not the same as the book story. The film adaptation is not the same as the book story because the story has been changed.

Not necessarily, as film adaptations may need to make changes for various reasons such as time constraints, budget, or to appeal to a broader audience. As long as the adaptation stays true to the essence of the story and maintains its core themes and characters, it can still be successful.
