By definition, EDC, or everyday carry, is the stuff you carry in your day to day life. A watch, a phone, keys, maybe a pocket knife, pen, etc. Why is it a hobby? I get the preparedness and utility aspect. But what's the big deal?

What's so "hobby-worth" about it?

You can also use the word 'habit.' These are the things that you have been doing on a daily basis. At some point, you cannot leave your home without them. There is nothing wrong if you are doing these things in routines. This how you live and I considered the good habits of your life.

The reason why everyday carry is a hobby is because it is a routine. Routine is the everyday that you are doing or action.  There is nothing wrong with that.  It is the reminder that you are doing the right action everyday.

Everyday carry (EDC) or every-day carry is a collection of useful items that are consistently carried on person every day. The main reasons for having EDC are utility and preparedness; to help individuals overcome simple everyday problems, and to prepare someone for unexpected and possibly dangerous situations.
