Hello!

I had an ovarian cyst. It was not cancerous in the end, but I was explained the whole way in case it was.

It is like this. They will run a vaginal ultrasound on you and then get a little piece of it for a biopsy.

Once they have the results if the cyst is bening (like my case) you get treated with hormones so it can get expelled from your body (as mine only had liquid inside).

Now if it is a solid one you might have to have the doctor remove it from your body, once again a they are hard to get expelled.

If it is cancer you will immediately go to treatment, through chemo. The steps and treatment will be determined on how far your cancer is.

Please mind I am not a doctor, but a patient. Talk to your doctor!

I hope you are ok!

A cryst on your ovary can be found during a pelvic exam. Depending on its size and whether it's fluid filled, solid or mixed, your doctor will recommend test to determine its type and whether you need treatment. Possible tests are;
Pregnancy test: a positive test might suggest that you have a corpus luteum cyst.

Pelvic ultrasound: A wand like device ( transducer) sends and recieves ßhigh frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to create image of your uterus and ovaries oon a video screen.Your doctor aanalyzes the image to confirm the presence of a cyst. Helps identify iits location and determine wwhether it's ssolid, filled with fluid or mixed.

Laparoscopy: using a lapalaparoscope- a slim, lighted instrument inserted 8nto your abdomen through a small incision,your doctor can see your ovaries and remove the ovarian cyst.

CA 125 blood test: Blood level of a protein called cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) often are elevated in women with ovarian cancer.

It is the same treatment for other patients with carcinoma. They need to undergo chemotherapy. Whatever the stages of carcinoma, this is the best option for malignant type. For the benign type, it needs to undergo surgery to remove it.

Surgery. Large or persistent ovarian cysts, or cysts that are causing symptoms, usually need to be surgically removed. Surgery is also normally recommended if there are concerns that the cyst could be cancerous or could become cancerous.
