I think modern society is becoming materialistic because of the new changes in technologies. Have you noticed this matter? I am sure there are good points for being one. Can we control ourselves with this concern?

I think we have. We buy thousands of stuff we don't need. We get into so much debt that go way beyond what we make for our salary.

Being debt-free is an attainable ambition is the solution to this monstrous problem.

I had a friend who was so in debt of using his credit cards. At some point, he totally maxed them out. Now, he is in a difficult situation.

That's so sad. Never lend him money to help pay his debts. He must sell his stuff. Get extra job. Cut up his VISA credit card. And seek Dave Ramsey's financial help.

You friend can get out of his predicament. We have. Will you share him this, please?

Yes. Modern society is becoming materialistic.

Material gain is given more emphasis today. People are corrupt and engage in bribery just to be able to accumulate more wealth. Some men and women marry for material gain. Almost all aspects of social lives are basically controlled by money.

Yes, our modern society has become very materialistic. It is a classic PR stunt. Look at all the advertisements on so many media outlets. Many of the things that PR puts out there is honestly nonsense. No one needs a new phone every 3 months or luxury bags for every season. Our society has become so fast paced that many cannot catch up. Look at the older generation and their way of purchasing; their things were truly made to last. Nowadays things are literally made out of cheap material so it can break faster so a person thinks they need to go out ASAP to buy the latest of whatever it is. Very unnecessary.

Technology has made everyone to be techy and move with the current trend. Social media tends to exert pressure to people. Everybody posts their good life on social media, the new house, cars, holidays and so on. This outs pressure on people and everyone seeks to have such as life ending up seeking for money and material opportunitiesTechnology has made everyone to be techy and move with the current trend. There is much to be written about the simple but profound phrase. 'The best things in life are not things.' We all live in a materialistic culture where most individuals are more focused on their possessions than who they are.

It is so sad that people have forgotten about their original kindness and have become more materialistic than any other time in any generation. People have turned this materialism to evil behaviors that no one can ever imagine. Lets talk about love for instance, girls want to date men with big cars and money. Some do anything, including very immoral behaviors like prostitution, bestiality, human trafficking who kidnap innocent people including children for sex. Some look for older people enough to be their grandads to sponsor their lavish lifestyles.

It has reached a point where if you don't have money, then you are considered to be la lesser person. Parents discriminate children according to what they have and what they offer them instead of loving them all equally and unconditionally. Politicians think about themselves and their selfish gain without thinking about the well being of those who elected them. Posters in churches love and consider those who give more offering and gifts in church than the poor members. The rich are given respectful names and leadership and this has made the church to loose its actual meaning. Teachers sometimes in schools tend to favor those students whose parents have taken a greater part in financial contribution to the development of the school. In hospitals, the patients that have more money are given quality services and even have a private wing where the best medics are located. Poor ones are left alone to suffer on the corridors as they receive poor and diminishing services. Its so sad and i pray so hard that one day we will go back to our originality in kindness and compassionate to all.

here is evidence that modern society is becoming increasingly materialistic, with a focus on consumerism and material possessions as markers of success and happiness.

The best things in life are not things. There is a great deal to be said about this simple but very true statement. We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people is more concerned with what it has than who we are

Yes, I think there are good points for being materialistic. I don't think it is the most appropriate concern for society. It can be difficult to handle one's own emotions and thoughts in a materialistic world, but it can also be difficult to control one's own worth in a materialistic world.
