It is an expression that some people adapted in their lives. It is basically related to their emotions. There are other expressions that can use, such as OMG!, Oh, my!, and the like. Personally, there is nothing wrong if they do this. We must admit that we sometimes uttered these words unintentionally.

It's depended on so many things. Actually we say "ohh", not only bad news. We need to focus him/ her expression when someone said "ohh". Like when some told me, Hey Rajkumar,"I saw you at the park with a baygirl." Who is she? At this situation I said "ohh" in a slow voice and ask him,"why you didn't join us, she is my nephew." For more example, Someone told me, Rajkumar,"I saw you uncle in the hospital and Maybe he got serious injured." I said, "Ohh" with shocked and little bit loud voice and also ask him, When it was happens and how?

It is way of expressing our emotions. Mostly people use ohh when they hearing any bad or shocking news. I don't use ohh but one of my friend used this word to express her feelings.

It's not clear why people might say "ooh." It's possible that they are expressing surprise, excitement, or interest in something. "Ooh" is often used as an interjection, which is a word or phrase that is used to express a sudden feeling or reaction. It's a common expression that is often used in conversation to indicate a positive or negative reaction to something.

We say that when we are shocked, knew something strange, learned something and when we figured out a certain idea. Others just say it while usually some are nodding their head when they say ooh.

People use this as a sign of expression of regret. May be they find themselves doing the wrong thing, and a sudden awakening sometimes comes with words like ooh or my goodness etc.
