She came to me in tears!

"I want to end it all. My parents expect me to pass with A in school. They are not happy if I get a B+. They tell me they are A- Students and I doubt it. I have not seen their performance sheets and they never seem to have answers for my assignments. We're all parents A-students?"

She caught me unawares and maybe you will help answer her. Were all parents A-STUDENTS?

Does it mean one cannot make it in life unless they are A-STUDENTS?image

It is unfortunate when parents have unreasonable expectations of their children and it can lead to mental health problems. Quite often this is due to the parents not having been brilliant at school themselves and substituting their children as "family hopes".

My parents did not put me under such pressure. They did OK at school but did not go to university and neither did my sister, who was their natural daughter. I was adopted, so they had no idea what academic genes I had inherited. As it happened I did OK - not brilliantly, but good enough for their expectations and mine. My own son has brains but has never been any good at school - due to his autism - and has never taken an exam. That does not bother us - we only seek his happiness, however that might be achieved.

We have successful people who have autism in the young ages and overcame autism with proper treatment and will power to live given by their parents. Hope you will be a good parent in raising a star out of autism. Because my favourite musician "yuvan shankar raja" had autism in his young age, but he made more than 400 songs today with his involvement and experiment towards music. If he can, surely everyone can. The only power in this world is will power and the strong motivation towards achieving something. Hope your kid will become a great human in the future.

Everyone was a student is his school time so off course every parents were a student in their school. Parents were students at a time so they share their student life experience with their child to help them spent their student school life in a very wonderful manner.

They are just motivating to you get good grades. I am sure some parents were not A students during their time. It will be good if you can ace all your subjects. I had tried this before because I need to maintain my scholarship during my school days.

Growing up I did not make all A's. I just wanted to get by my early years in grade school. It was not until my sophomore year in college that I wanted to do my very best in school.

This is the story of all students. All parents expect their kids to get A+ and better than everybody in the school. Those parents must have an idea that they are raising the human not robot.

I feel like its a way to motivate their children to make then perform even better , like if they parents say they where the toppers or A rank holders etc , then their children would be like "Oh , I would want to be like you too !"

Or they want their children to pass with good marks since they are lazy has hell with their studies lol .

You don't have to be an A-student to be successful in life. You need to strive and work hard to achieve your goals in life. Those who became successful in life are not all an A-student. These will depend on your many experiences to be considered as one of those we call who had achieved their dreams and become successful in their future life.

It is sad to see parents forcing their children to work beyond their capability. Just to think that maybe if that child was not good in academic, would they disown the child. We should learn to love all our children unconditionally without favor. Let the parents respect the interests of their children and follow and  support them for who they are and what they love. We have encountered reports where children have even committed suicide or ran from because they were not able to please their parents academically. It does not make you less of a person if you do not excel academically. There are people who are billionaires and yet did not perfect their academic life. Try explaining to them your interests and persuade them to support you.
