What happen when your Vitamin D is low?

My legs are hurting me ,i am thinking about getting vit D supplement but i need to know if it's a side effect of low vit.

When your vitamin D is low your hair becomes very brittle. When your vitamin D is low it can also make it hard to fight off diseases quicker.
