For those who believe in God, definitely God created the hen first which later laid the egg. for believers in the big bang theory, it's still a debate.

The truth is two bird species mated creating a new species bird that we call Chicken. So the chicken came first. Scientist have been able to genetically distinguish where exactly the Chicken comes from by studying its DNA.

It is safe to assume that the egg came first because amniotic eggs first appeared about 340 million years ago, while the first chickens only appeared at the earliest 58 thousand years ago. Before there were any chickens, there were eggs.

I think the chicken is the one who came first. How can you have an egg if there is no chicken. The chicken was the one laying the eggs. The eggs came from the chicken.

According to the theory of evolution, chickens evolved from earlier bird species through a process of natural selection over millions of years. Therefore, it is likely that the first "chicken" was not born as a fully formed chicken but rather as a result of genetic mutations that gradually occurred over time.

In other words, at some point in the evolutionary process, a bird species that was not quite a chicken laid an egg that contained the genetic mutation that would eventually lead to the first true chicken. So, technically speaking, the egg came first, and the first true chicken hatched from it
