Old age comes with so many factors. Attributed to sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.

The above senses get impaired during old age and also some develop sickness on and off, memory loss.

We have to cope by understanding that this stage comes with certain characteristics which are out of control and need management.

By providing good nutritious foods, helping them exercise and comforting them.

Sometimes the elderly are neglected by their families or care givers. It is never easy to see an elderly person being  yelled at having unexplained  bruises on their bodies.

Very true and I think that is so bad. They should be treated with care and love. Most of them die due to depression and neglect that they face.

These are some ways on how to cope with the elderly.

1. Try to identify their root of anger.

2. try to explain to them how you feel when they behave in a bad manner.

3. Try to be more a little understanding because of their old age.

Yes, understanding them is the most satisfying thing for them because you are enduring their character and having enough patience to be with them.

I am grateful that I am a Filipino. For the reason that we take good care of our elders without any second thought. I am sure it is also the same culture in other Asian countries.

In our culture the respect to parents and take care of them is a priority m things change from one culture to another.

what i observe in a Western and other countries at 18 age kids leave their families and went to live alone which make family relation broken, kids grown up teaching them in schools that they should leave their families and live alone at 18.

it is totally away from what Jesus teach us to honor our father and mother.

In middle east we are more connected to our parents taking care of them , I don't say that there is bad people in our community that ignore their parents and here it is a shame to do that . our parents raise us we have to give them love and take care of them , even we should look after needy old people too even if they are not relatives.

It's really hard coping with an elderly persion, they behave like kids and we all know that they are not mentally stable due to their age, the best thing to do for them is shower them with love and care.

I respect and still dwell with my elders, my mother and my father's mom. I understand that they change attitudes because of their age and the stress they already had. Don't ignore them, these ages of people need more attention because we may not know when is their time.

Coping with the elderly can involve practicing patience, empathy, and active listening. It is important to communicate clearly and respectfully, provide assistance with daily tasks, and maintain social connections. It is also important to recognize and address any health or cognitive issues that may arise with aging.

Some families may not care for their elderly members because they think it is in their own best interest. Others may be desperate to find a way to care for their elderly member without affecting the rest of their life. Some families may feel that elderly care is a personal issue that is not relevant to the community.
