It is wise to recognize that the adversary wants to speak loudly to our minds to distract us on our spiritual journey. I Peter 5:8 states that the adversary walks about as a roaring lion. He "roars" because he wants to frighten us and freeze us in our tracks so he can then pounce. His desire is to completely consume us with distractions and diversions so that we do not claim God's benefits in our lives.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. Matthew 13:22
The solution is to become "Word conditioned" rather than "circumstance controlled". This gives us an even, steady assurance and peacefulness. As "conditioned" implies, this is not immediate and takes effort on our part. Starting with our thoughts, we “weed out” any thoughts that are not conducive to our spiritual growth.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23
As the believers in the Bible did, we also seek out Bible fellowships where we can learn from more seasoned believers and grow together as God’s family.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42
As we grow in God's Word, we can become undaunted in our confidence in God, so that we are not paralyzed by the cares of this world. We evidence fruitfulness in our lives and share this fruitfulness as we bring the knowledge of God's Word to our fellow man.
