The microwave is generally the most efficient way to heat up and cook food - it's always quicker and its smaller size (as opposed to the oven) means that the heat is more focused on whatever's being cooked.

The most efficient fuel for cooking depends on the specific circumstances. For indoor cooking, natural gas is often the most efficient option, while outdoor cooking can be more efficient with propane or charcoal. Electric cooking can be efficient but is highly dependent on the electricity source. Cooking with wood can be efficient if using a modern, efficient stove or oven, but traditional wood fires are often less efficient and produce more pollutants. Overall, the most efficient fuel for cooking is one that is matched to the specific situation and equipment being used.

Electric hobs are your next best bet in terms of efficiency because when you're cooking with gas 'a significant amount of heat is lost to heating up your kitchen, rather than your food. ' That said, electricity is more expensive than gas, so a gas hob may save you a few pounds a year.
