Seal breathe in oxygen before diving. They use oxygen already in their blood while underwater. They can normally stay underwater for as long as 30 minutes and then come out to breathe in oxygen again.

Thank you, for your answer. Do you know what is this technique of breathing by seal known?

In sea mammals like seals they have oxygen storing protein muscles which has special non stick properties which can be packed a lot of oxygen into their muscles in huge quantities without clogging them up.

Seals has the capacity to store Oxygen in their blood and muscles rather than necessarily in their lungs.Seals  are air breathing mammals they breathe out before they dive ,not like humans breath do they rely on storage oxygen reserved to sustain them in underwater.

Unlike humans, harbor seals breathe out before diving. They use oxygen already in their blood and muscles while under water, and their heartbeat slows from about 100 beats per minute to 10. In one breath a seal can exchange 90% of the air in its lungs. Humans can only change 20% of our air per breath.

Diving mammals will slow their heart rate, stop their breathing, and shunt blood flow from their extremities to the brain, heart, and muscles when starting a dive. (Related: "Can Diving Mammals Avoid the Bends?") But champion divers, such as elephant seals, can hold their breath for about two hours.

Seals breathe through their nostrils while on land and hold their breath while swimming underwater. They can stay underwater for up to 2 hours.

Seals are air breathing mammals that inhale oxygen into their lungs and exhale carbon dioxide- just like humans. Unlike other marine mammals, seals do not have blowholes that they use to inhale air. Instead, all inhalation and exhalation happens through the seal's nostrils.

Seal breathe by breathing in through their noses and down their throats. When they are breathing, they are taking oxygen from the air and nitrogen from the blood.
