Dental crowns are caps placed over damaged or decayed teeth in order to restore them to their natural strength and shape. The crown, made of metal, porcelain, or ceramic, covers the entire visible portion of the tooth. Crowns can be used to fix cracked, worn down, and misshapen teeth. They are also commonly used to cover a tooth that has had a root canal, as well as replace a large filling. A dental crown can help preserve the tooth and provide added support.

a crown most commonly refers to a dental cap, a type of dental restoration that completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. A crown may be needed when a large dental cavity threatens the health of a tooth. A crown is typically bonded to the tooth by dental cement.

Different kinds of material can be used in crowns including porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, metal, composite resin and a combination of materials.

You can preserve a healthy tooth structure by following some good dental care-

1. Cut down on acidic drinks and foods.

2. Use a soft toothbrush and try not to brush too hard.

3. Rinse your mouth daily after meals. Brush two times a day for two minutes.

4. Use Mouthwash before going to sleep.

5. Flossing can help to loosens the particles that brushing misses.

I don't know too much about dental crown but in my little view a dental crown is a tooth shaped cap that covers a tooth and restores its appearance and function.

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that can be placed over your tooth. Think of it like a snug hat for your tooth. The crown restores the tooth's shape, size, strength and appearance. The dental crown is cemented into place on your tooth and it covers the visible portion of the tooth.

Although today's dental crown are strong and durable, they are not likely to last the rest of your life. Most crowns last between five and 15 years before needing to be replaced (or at least repaired).

Dental crowns are prosthetic devices used to restore damaged or missing teeth by covering them with a cap that matches the color and shape of the tooth. They can be made from a variety of materials such as porcelain, metal, or ceramic and are used to improve the appearance, strength, and function of the tooth. The procedure typically involves reshaping the tooth to fit the crown, taking impressions, and then placing the crown over the prepared tooth using dental cement.

Dental crowns are custom-made caps that are designed to fit over a damaged or decayed tooth. The crown is used to restore the strength, shape, and appearance of the tooth, as well as protect it from further damage. Crowns can be made from materials such as porcelain, metal alloys, or a combination of both. The crown may also be used to anchor a dental bridge in place, replace a missing tooth, or protect a weakened tooth from fracturing. Ultimately, dental crowns help restore teeth to a more natural-looking state.
