My iPad is stuck on the vertical screen. How can I fix this?
more_vert
Slide up from the bottom of the screen to access the Control Center, and then check to see if the orientation lock is turned on (the icon looks like a lock with a circular arrow around it). If so, tap the icon to turn it off. Then, turn your iPad around to see if the screen also rotates.

Below things you can do to fix your ipad.

1. Make sure that Rotation Lock is off: On an iPad with iOS 12 or later, or iPadOS, swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. Then tap the Rotation Lock button to make sure it's off.

2. Turn your iPad sideways.

If your iPad is stuck in the vertical screen orientation, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue: Restart the device: Press and hold the power button until the "slide to power off" slider appears, then slide to power off. After a few seconds, press the power button again to turn on the iPad. Force restart the device: On an iPad with Face ID, press and release the volume up button, press and release the volume down button, then press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. On an iPad with a Home button, press and hold both the Home button and the power button until the Apple logo appears. Check the side switch: Make sure that the side switch on the right side of the iPad (above the volume buttons) isn't set to mute or rotation lock. If it is, flip the switch to turn off the setting. Check orientation lock: Go to the Control Center and make sure that the orientation lock icon isn't enabled. If it is, tap the icon to turn off the lock. Check for a software update: Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If there's an available update, install it. If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Apple Support for further assistance.

If your iPad is stuck in the vertical screen, you can try the following solutions:

Restart your iPad: Press and hold the Power button until the "slide to power off" slider appears. Slide the slider to turn off your iPad, then press and hold the Power button again until the Apple logo appears.

Check the Orientation Lock: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access Control Center, and look for the icon that looks like a lock with a circle around it. If it's highlighted in white, tap it to turn it off.

Check the Side Switch: On some iPad models, the side switch above the volume buttons can be set to either lock rotation or mute. Check if the switch is set to lock rotation, and if so, flip it to the other position.

Reset All Settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset your iPad's settings to their default values, but won't delete any of your data.

Restore your iPad: If none of the above solutions work, you can try restoring your iPad to its factory settings using iTunes on a computer. This will erase all data and settings from your iPad, so make sure you have a backup of your data before proceeding.

If the issue still persists after trying all of these solutions, it might be a hardware issue, and you should contact Apple Support or take your iPad to an authorized service provider

There are a few potential solutions to this problem.

If the iPad is stuck on the vertical screen, you could try to fix the screen by removing the top plate from the front and back cover, and then moving the cover back and forth between cover and cover, or you could use a Phillips screamer to press against the cover and citywire card reader to remove the card from the iPad.

If your phone screen has a vertical line stuck or dead pixels, it can be a hardware issue that's often not easily fixable at home. However, you can attempt some basic troubleshooting to determine the extent of the problem:

1. **Restart Your Phone:**

   - Sometimes, temporary software glitches can cause display issues. Try turning your phone off and then back on to see if the vertical line disappears.

2. **Check for Software Updates:**

   - Ensure your phone's software is up to date. Manufacturers may release updates that can resolve display problems.

3. **Test in Safe Mode:**

   - Boot your phone into Safe Mode to check if the issue persists. Safe Mode disables third-party apps, which may be causing conflicts with the display.

4. **Screen Test Apps:**

   - Some apps, like "Dead Pixel Test and Fix," can help identify and potentially fix dead pixels or stuck lines. These apps may not work in all cases, but they're worth trying.

5. **Factory Reset:**

   - If the issue is not resolved, you can try a factory reset. Be sure to back up your data first, as a factory reset will erase everything on your phone.

If the vertical line or dead pixels persist after trying these steps, it's likely a hardware issue. In such cases, you should consider the following:

1. **Contact Manufacturer or Retailer:**

   - If your phone is under warranty, reach out to the manufacturer or retailer. They may offer repair or replacement options.

2. **Professional Repair:**

   - Consult a professional technician or an authorized service center for an assessment. They can determine if the issue can be fixed and provide an estimate for repairs.

3. **Replace the Screen:**

   - If the problem is related to the display panel or internal connections, replacing the screen may be necessary. This should be done by a qualified technician.

Repairing hardware issues like stuck lines or dead pixels on a phone screen typically requires specialized tools and expertise. Attempting DIY repairs can be risky and may cause further damage. If your phone is still under warranty or insured, it's advisable to explore warranty or insurance options for screen repairs.

If your iPad is stuck on the vertical screen and not responding to orientation changes, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. **Restart the iPad:**

Begin by restarting your iPad. This can help resolve temporary glitches or software issues. To restart, press and hold the power button until the "slide to power off" slider appears. Slide it to turn off the iPad, then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.

2. **Check Screen Orientation Lock:**

Make sure that the screen orientation lock is not enabled. You can check and disable this feature by swiping up from the bottom of the screen (or swiping down from the top-right corner on iPad models without a home button) to open the Control Center. Look for the lock icon and tap it to toggle the orientation lock on or off.

3. **Update iOS:**

Ensure that your iPad is running the latest version of iOS. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address issues with screen orientation. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update" to check for and install any available updates.

4. **Reset Settings:**

If the issue persists, you can try resetting the iPad's settings. This won't delete your data, but it will reset system settings to their default values. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Reset All Settings." Enter your passcode if prompted and confirm the reset.

5. **Calibrate the Gyroscope:**

The iPad uses a gyroscope to determine its orientation. Calibrating the gyroscope may help if it's providing incorrect data. Open the "Compass" app on your iPad and move it in a figure-eight motion until the calibration process is complete.

6. **Check for App-Specific Issues:**

Some apps may have issues with screen orientation. If the problem occurs only within a specific app, try closing the app and reopening it. You can also uninstall and reinstall the app to see if that resolves the problem.

7. **Perform a Hard Reset:**

If none of the above steps work, you can perform a hard reset. This is different from a regular restart and can help resolve more stubborn issues. To do a hard reset, quickly press and release the volume up button, then do the same with the volume down button. Finally, press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.

8. **Restore from Backup:**

If the problem persists, you may need to restore your iPad from a backup using iTunes or iCloud. Ensure that you have a recent backup before proceeding, as this will erase all data on your device.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider for further assistance. There may be an underlying hardware problem that requires professional attention.
