You can try sticking about 6 inches long spikes in between the solar cells.

Spikes are thin so it will not block radiation.
And it will be long enough to avoid pigeons from resting on solar panel.

Pigeons and other birds can cause damage to solar panels by perching on them, building nests or leaving droppings, which can lead to decreased solar panel efficiency and even physical damage over time. Here are some ways to protect your solar panels from damage by pigeons:

Install bird deterrents: There are several bird deterrents available in the market such as bird spikes, bird netting, and ultrasonic devices. Bird spikes are a humane and effective way to keep birds from landing on solar panels. Bird netting is also a viable solution, but it can be a bit of a hassle to install.

Use reflective materials: Reflective materials like mirrors or shiny surfaces can help deter pigeons from perching on your solar panels as they create a bright and shiny reflection that is uncomfortable for the birds. You can install reflective films or materials around the solar panels.

Set up physical barriers: You can also set up physical barriers around your solar panels to prevent pigeons from perching. These can be made of materials like metal mesh, wire, or plastic.

Keep the area clean: Keeping the area around your solar panels clean can also deter pigeons. Remove any bird droppings and debris around your solar panels regularly.

Seek professional help: If the pigeon problem persists, you may want to consider seeking professional help from bird control companies or solar panel installers. They can assess the situation and recommend the best solution for your specific case

Physical Barriers:

  • Bird Netting: Install bird netting over and around the panels to create a barrier that prevents pigeons from accessing the spaces beneath and between the panels. Ensure the netting is taut and securely fastened.

Protecting solar panels from damage caused by pigeons or other birds is important to maintain their efficiency and longevity. Here are some effective methods to prevent pigeons from nesting or roosting on your solar panels:

1. **Bird Spikes:** Bird spikes are physical barriers that can be installed along the edges of your solar panels. These spikes make it uncomfortable for birds to land on the panels, discouraging them from roosting.

2. **Netting or Mesh:** Install bird netting or mesh above your solar panels to create a barrier between the panels and the birds. Ensure that the netting is securely fastened and taut.

3. **Bird Deterrent Gel:** Bird deterrent gel is a non-toxic substance that can be applied to the edges of your solar panels. It makes the surface sticky and uncomfortable for birds to land on.

4. **Ultrasonic Devices:** Ultrasonic bird repellent devices emit high-frequency sounds that are annoying to birds but not harmful to humans. These devices can deter pigeons from approaching your solar panels.

5. **Visual Deterrents:** Hanging reflective objects like shiny tape or old CDs near your solar panels can create visual disturbances that birds find unsettling. This may discourage them from landing.

6. **Scare Tactics:** Use scare tactics such as motion-activated sprinklers, decoy predators (e.g., owls or hawks), or bird scare balloons to startle and deter pigeons.

7. **Regular Maintenance:** Keep the area around your solar panels clean and free of debris, which can attract birds. Trim nearby trees and branches that pigeons could use as a perch to access the panels.

8. **Professional Pest Control:** If you have a severe pigeon problem, consider hiring a professional pest control service that specializes in bird removal and deterrent methods.

It's essential to choose a method that suits your specific situation and preferences. When implementing any of these measures, ensure that they do not interfere with the proper functioning of your solar panels or violate any local regulations. Regular inspection and maintenance of your solar panel system can help you identify and address any issues with pigeons or other pests promptly.
