Athlete's foot is a fungal infection of the skin on the feet, causing itching, burning, and scaling. It is caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes that thrive in warm, moist environments like shoes, socks, and locker rooms. Proper foot hygiene and wearing shoes in public places can help prevent it.
