Does wearing shorts instead of long pants help prevent wetting the bed?

my son Leo 8wets the bed, so i told him to wear shorts and he didn't wet the bed. So is it true?

There are people who wet the bed even if they wear long pants, some have to wear napkins to avoid wetting the bed,so I think Shorts don't really prevent the wetting
