What delusions do psychopaths and sociopaths have?
more_vert
Psychopath and sociopath from what I've come to understand are two distinctive characteristics, sharing some similar behavioral instincts. Both characters deviate from normal social behavior, this kinds of people are more likely to break the law, commit a crime, as serious as murder, which is because they lack moral consciense and unable to differentiate between right and wrong on normal grounds.

The thing that sets them apart is that psychopath are more of a natural traits, sociopaths on the other hand can be developed over a period of time as a result of physical abuse, or some other from of trauma from childhood days.

The common delutional disorder associated with sociopaths and psychopaths is the lost of time. This is very much evident in the sufferers of these mental maladjustments, hence, they find it difficult to keep up with reality of the situation of things in their lives. The most painful part of it all is that they would still be in a self-deceptive state thinking they are making significant progress with their lives, not knowing that they are behind with the happenings going on around them.

Some of them could be in a self-destructive path with this delutional behavior as they completely lost base with their cognitive side of their minds. This may result to series of mental whirlwinds whereby they become mentally unstable thereby unable to make reasonable decisions that would have better their lives.

Psychopaths and sociopaths are not typically characterized by delusions, but rather by a lack of empathy and remorse, as well as a disregard for the rights of others. They may have grandiose beliefs about themselves, have a sense of entitlement and be overly confident in their own abilities, but this is not considered a delusion.

It depends on the definition of the word "delusions" and the specific definition for a psychopath or sociopath. In general, though, delusional beliefs or behaviors can be a result of mental health problems, which can include mood problems, anxiety problems, and depression.
