Anything that doesn't require refrigeration. Depending on the hostel's amenities, fridge space is limited, if available at all, and storage space is generally not offered and definitely not safe.

I think there is no limitation in bringing some foods in hostels, either slow or fast food.  But then, there is an exemption. If they did not allow it, then that is the best time to follow the hostel's rules.

Lays, Wavy, Maggie, pickles, and many things like that. Things that don't need any referigeration are suitable for that. Maggie must be with you lol coz you can cook it any time whenever you feel hunger.

Where is your hostel because when cooking in the hostel you have to consider the effect of cooking on other students living in the hostel. African food can be spicy and if you live in an environment that student are strange to this type of food then it affect them. So this depends on the type of environment.

Here are some homemade food options that you can consider taking with you to a hostel:

  • Granola bars
  • Trail mix
  • Homemade energy bites or protein bars
  • Dried fruits and nuts
  • Homemade muffins or bread
  • Pre-made sandwiches
  • Instant oatmeal packets
  • Instant noodle cups
  • Homemade hummus with pita bread or vegetables for dipping
  • Homemade fruit salad or vegetable salad

It's important to consider the shelf life and portability of the food items you choose. Make sure to also check with the hostel about any restrictions or guidelines they may have regarding food storage and preparation.
