Automatic Index Creation

The AutoIndex o Import/Create option in the Access Options dialog box is another source of automated index buildings. Any fields with names that begin or end with the characters entered in the AutoIndex on Import/Create box, such as ID, key, code or num, are automatically indexed by Access. Follow these steps to see or to change the current setting:

1. Click File>options

2. Click Object Designers and under the Table design, add edit, or remove values in the AutoIndex on Import/Create box. Use semicolon to separate values.

3. Click OK

When adding or modifying data, performance decreases as each additional index requires Access to complete additional work. To reduce the number of indexes created, you might choose to change the values shown in the AutoIndex on Import/Create box or reduce the number of values.

Indexing in mixed expressions involves using parentheses to indicate the order of operations. Start with parentheses, then exponents, then multiplication/division, and finally addition/subtraction. Use indices to refer to specific elements in the expression.
