Check the power management settings: Some laptops have a power-saving mode that can shut off USB ports to save power. Go to the "Device Manager," find the USB controller, right-click on it, and select "Properties." Go to the "Power Management" tab and make sure the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option is not selected.

If one of the USB ports on your laptop is not working, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve USB port issues. Try turning off your laptop and turning it back on again.

Check the USB device: Make sure that the USB device you are trying to connect is working properly. Try connecting it to a different computer or USB port to see if the problem is with the device or the port.

Update drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your USB controller. You can check for updates by going to the "Device Manager" in the Control Panel, and then right-clicking on the USB controller and choosing "Update driver."

Uninstall and reinstall the USB controller: If updating the drivers doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB controller. Go to "Device Manager," find the USB controller, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall." Restart your computer, and Windows will automatically reinstall the controller.

Check if the BIOS needs to be updated: Sometimes, the issue may be with the computer's BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). Check your computer manufacturer's website to see if there is a newer version of the BIOS available and update it if necessary

Get it checked: If none of these solutions work, you might have a hardware problem. It's recommended to take your laptop to a professional technician or the manufacturer to have it inspected and repaired.

There could be several reasons why one of the USB ports on your laptop is not working: Driver issues: If the drivers for the USB controller are outdated, missing, or corrupted, the port may not work properly. Try updating the drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website or using the Device Manager. Physical damage: If the port is damaged, it may not work. Try using a different port or a USB hub if you have one. Power issues: If the laptop is not providing enough power to the USB device, it may not work. Try connecting the device to a different port or using a powered USB hub if you have one. Software compatibility: If the laptop does not have the necessary software to support the device, it may not work. Try installing the necessary software or drivers from the device manufacturer's website. Device issues: If the USB device is not working, it may be damaged or not compatible with your laptop. Try using a different device to see if it works. Try these solutions one by one to resolve the issue. If the problem persists, you may need to seek technical support from the laptop manufacturer or the device manufacturer.

It's not uncommon for USB ports to stop working properly; swap to a different port and change USB cables to troubleshoot.

You can also use Device Manager in Windows to scan for new hardware or uninstall and reinstall the USB controller; on a Mac, you can reset the SMC.

If one of your USB ports on your laptop is not working, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

Restart Your Laptop:

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Reboot your laptop and see if the USB port starts working.

Check for Physical Damage:

Inspect the USB port for any physical damage or debris. If you notice anything, try cleaning it gently with compressed air or a small brush.

Try Another USB Device:

Test the non-working USB port with a different USB device. It could be a problem with the specific device rather than the port.

Update USB Drivers:

Ensure that your USB drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager on Windows or System Preferences on macOS.

Disable and Re-enable USB Controller:

In Device Manager (Windows), you can try disabling and then re-enabling the USB controllers to refresh the connection.

Check Power Management Settings:

In Device Manager (Windows), navigate to USB Root Hub properties and uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

Ensure that your laptop's BIOS/UEFI firmware is up to date. Check the manufacturer's website for any available updates.

System Restore (Windows):

If the issue started recently, you can perform a system restore to revert your system to a point where the USB port was working.

Professional Assistance:

If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue. Consider seeking help from the laptop manufacturer or a professional technician.

Remember to perform these steps carefully, and if you're unsure about any procedure, it's always a good idea to consult with the laptop manufacturer's support or a qualified technician.

If one of the USB ports on your laptop is not working, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. **Check the USB Device**: First, ensure that the USB device you're trying to connect is functioning properly. Try connecting the USB device to another USB port on your laptop or to another computer to verify that it's not the USB device causing the problem.

2. **Try a Different USB Device**: If the USB port is not recognizing any USB devices, try connecting a different USB device to the port to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the USB port itself or the specific USB device you were originally using.

3. **Restart Your Laptop**: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches and refresh system processes. Shut down your laptop completely, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

4. **Check Device Manager**: Open Device Manager on your laptop and check if there are any exclamation marks or error symbols next to the USB controller or USB devices. Right-click on the affected USB device or controller and select "Update driver" to see if updating the driver resolves the issue.

5. **Disable and Re-enable USB Port**: In Device Manager, you can also try disabling and then re-enabling the USB port to reset it. Right-click on the USB port or controller and select "Disable device." Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select "Enable device."

6. **Check Power Management Settings**: In Device Manager, right-click on the USB port or controller, select "Properties," and go to the "Power Management" tab. Make sure the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

7. **Update USB Drivers**: Ensure that the drivers for the USB controller are up to date. You can update drivers through Device Manager or by downloading them from the manufacturer's website.

8. **Check for Windows Updates**: Make sure that Windows is up to date by checking for and installing any available updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."

9. **Perform System Restore**: If the USB port stopped working after a recent software update or installation, consider performing a system restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when the USB port was functioning properly.

10. **Hardware Inspection**: If the USB port still isn't working after trying the above steps, there may be a hardware issue with the port itself. Inspect the port for any physical damage or debris that may be obstructing the connection. If you're comfortable, you can also try opening up your laptop to check for loose or damaged connections to the USB port.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the USB port is defective and may require professional repair or replacement. Consider contacting the manufacturer's technical support for further assistance.
