semiconductor sensors are used to detect LPG gas. An MQ6 semiconductor sensor is used. Sensitive material of the MQ-6 gas sensor is SnO2, which has lower conductivity in clean air. When the target combustible gas exists, the sensor conductivity increases along with the rising gas concentration.

Ethyl mercaptan is the gas that is added to LPG to detect the smell. Lpg gas doesn't have any smell but it is very dangerous if it is undetected, so we add another gas to detect the smell.

LPG is an liquid petrolium gas uses as a fuel in cylinders also for the purposes of cooking heating as well as in cars Ethyl mercaptan is added to the LPG because it possesses a strong odour. The smell helps us detect an LPG leak because it is an odourless gas and its leak can go undetected..

A chemical called Ethyl Mercaptan is mixed with LPG to give it a distinct smell. This helps to detect gas leaks for safety purposes.

The gas that is typically mixed with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to detect a smell is ethyl mercaptan. Ethyl mercaptan is an odorant that is added to LPG to give it a distinct smell, making it easier to detect leaks. Additionally, ethyl mercaptan is non-toxic and does not react with the LPG, making it safe to use.
